The familiar violets charm in these playful mismatching socks. The violets are embroidered onto the stitches afterwards.

The pattern for the Viola socks was previously published in Beloved Patterns & Birger Kaipiainen knitting magazine, where the inspiration came from Birger Kaipiainen’s iconic ceramic designs.

Sizes:

38 / US 7.5. Cuff circumference: 22 cm / 8.75˝, cuff height: 9 cm / 3.5˝

Yarn:

Gjestal Garn Janne (85 % wool, 15 % polyamide, 100 m (109 yds) /50 g)

MC: 402 white (bleached), 2 balls
CC1: 406 navy blue, 1 ball
CC2: 410 bright blue, 1 ball
CC3: 421 red wine, 1 ball
CC4: 422 heather, 1 ball

Needles:

DPNs 3.5 mm / US 4. Adjust needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge.

Gauge:

26 sts × 34 rnds = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4˝ over Stockinette Stitch in the round.

Notions:

Stitch markers, darning needle, waste yarn.

General information:

These socks are worked in the round from the top down. The heel is an hourglass heel which is shaped using short rows. The pansy patterns are worked onto the sock cuffs by
duplicating stitches afterwards.
