Rya Embroidery Pattern: Kaksi Kuovia Rya (by Sisko Sälpäkivi)

The Kaksi Kuovia pattern transforms into wall hanging rya or a cushion. The rya is worked onto a base fabric using traditional rya stitches.

The pattern for the Kaksi kuovia rya was previously published in Beloved Patterns & Birger Kaipiainen knitting magazine, where the inspiration came from Birger Kaipiainen’s iconic ceramic designs.

Notions:

Base fabric hand-woven rug base fabric, width 45 cm / 17.75˝ (Wetterhoff ): For the rya 65 cm / 25.25˝ and cushion cover 50 cm / 19.75˝

Notions firm stick or ruler, width 2.5 cm / 1˝ (Wetterhoff ), blunt rya needles and a wooden strip for hanging the rya

General information:

You can use these same instructions for working either a wall-hanging rya or a cushion cover. Finish the ends of the base fabric either with a zigzag stitch on a sewing machine or with an overlocker.
