Start the hat with twisted ribbing and continue with a colorwork pattern until the top.

The pattern for the Pilkut hat was previously published in Beloved Patterns & Pihlgren and Ritola knitting magazine, where the inspiration came from Pihlgren and Ritola's iconic wallpaper patterns.

Adult

Finished measurements: Circumference approx. 51.5 cm / 20.25”.

Designed with a negative ease of approx. 5 cm. The finished hat should fit snugly on your head as it will stretch slightly with wear.

Yarn:

Novita Woolly Wood (220 m / 246 yds = 100 g), 1 ball or 90 g in color Dune 603; Novita Tuuli (225 m / 246 yds = 25 g), 1 ball or 25 g in color Heijastus 604; Novita Icelandic Wool (90 m / 98 yds = 50 g) 1 ball or 20 g in color Noki 099

Needles:

4.5 mm / US 7 circular needle (60 or 80 cm / 24 or 32”). Adjust needle size if needed to obtain the correct gauge

Gauge:

21 sts = 10 cm / 4” over colorwork pattern

Notions:

Darning needle, 4 locking stitch markers.
