The colorwork pillow cover features repeating motifs of Helsinki’s rooftops. The back of the pillow is worked in simple colorwork.

The Helsinki pillow cover pattern was first published in the Beloved Patterns & Erik Bruun knitting magazine, inspired by Finnish graphic designer Erik Bruun’s iconic posters.

Novita 7 Brothers (80 % wool, 20 % nylon (200 m (219 yds) / 100 g)

MC: 011 White, 2 balls or 400 m / 440 yds

CC: 099 Black, slightly less than 2 balls or 350 m / 390 yds

Needles:

4 mm / US 6, 80 cm / 32˝ circular needle, and one 4 mm / US 6 DPN (or size to obtain gauge)

Gauge:

21 sts x 24 rows / rnds = 10 × 10 cm / 4 x 4˝ over Stockinette Stitch

21 sts x 24 rnds = 10 × 10 cm / 4 x 4˝ over colorwork in the round

Notions:

2 stitch markers, darning needle and 7 white buttons, diameter ca. 1 cm / 0.5˝.
