Crochet Pattern: Vilja Placemat (by Johanna Nuorela)
The placemat is crocheted using the mosaic crochet technique. It can easily be extended into a longer table runner by repeating the pattern.
The pattern for the Vilja placemat was previously published in Beloved Patterns & Pentik knitting magazine, where the inspiration came from Pentik's decorative textiles and ceramics.

Make sure to leave enough yarn for working the fringes. You can replace the first st of a row by a standing single crochet (using the new yarn given in the pattern, make a slip knot and place it on the hook, then work the first single crochet st as normal).
Difficulty:
Intermediate.
