Knitwear designer Minttu Wikberg designed the Lumikide cowl for the Rakkaat kuviot knitting magazine, which features 20 knitting patterns inspired by Pihlgren and Ritola's wallpaper designs.
– I specifically designed a cowl because the pattern stands out beautifully. I arranged the snowflake pattern slightly differently than in the wallpaper to get a few complete snowflakes on the cowl, Minttu explains.
– Thanks to the double knitting technique, the cowl can be worn either way: no yarn floats are visible on the wrong side. Since the cowl has no seams, it doesn't matter exactly how you position it around your neck.
The Lumikide cowl is knitted from domestic sheep's wool. Pirtin Kehräämö's worsted yarn is soft and luxurious.
– I prefer to choose domestic. The yarn doesn't itch, so it's well-suited for the neck, Minttu says.
