These striking socks are knitted cuff-down. The owl's eyes are duplicate stitched afterwards.

The pattern for the Owl socks was published in Rakkaat kuviot & Erik Bruun magazine, where the inspiration came from Erik Bruun's iconic posters.

Calf circumference unstretched: 30 cm

Cuff height: 43 cm

Foot length is easy to adjust.

Materials:

Yarn: Lankava Mainio (75 % wool, 25 % polyamide, 260 m / 100 g)

MC: 655 salmiakki (black licorice) 2 balls or 390 m

CC: 652 usva (mist) 1 ball or 156 m

Approx. 1 m of orange and 0.5 m of white yarn for duplicate stitching

Needles: 3 mm DPNs for stranded knitting section and 2.5 mm DPNs for ribbing and stockinette section.

Other materials: tapestry needle.

Gauge:

27 sts and 27 rnds = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch & stranded colorwork in the round.
